New Delhi: The wait for justice is over in the massacre that took place 9 years ago in Ghaziabad. An incident in which 7 people of the family of a businessman were murdered. Driver Rahul Verma, who had killed the entire family with the intention of robbing, was sentenced to death in the court of Special Judge of EC Court. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs. 1 lakh. The court termed the murder of 7 people as an offense of the rarest of rare category.

The court had termed Rahul as a convict on Saturday. However, August 1 was the date for finalizing of the sentence. The murder occurred on May 21, 2013. The sensational incident was carried out it in Ghantaghar Nai Basti locality.

The motive of this murder was mainly robbery. Rahul Verma, driver of businessman Satish Goyal, fled with jewelry worth lakhs of rupees after committing the massacre. He is lodged in Dasna jail for almost 9 years now.

How was the crime committed?

A sensational incident took place on the night of 21 May 2013 in Ghantaghar Kotwali area. Elderly businessman Satish Goyal living in Ghantaghar Nai Basti locality along with his entire family was murdered with a knife. Sachin Mittal, the son-in-law of the deceased businessman, had filed a case of murder against unknown miscreants at the Kotwali police station. Among the dead were businessman Satish Goyal, his wife Manju Goyal, son Sachin Goyal, daughter-in-law Rekha Goyal and three grand-grandchildren.

Rahul ran away with money 15 days ago

Police started investigation into the matter and Rahul was arrested in a day. He was sent to jail on May 22 on the charges of murder. Police had recovered Rs 6000 and gold and silver jewelry worth lakhs of rupees.

Rahul was taken on remand on May 24. Police officials recovered the knife and blood-stained clothes used in the murder. He worked as a driver for the businessman. About 15 days ago, Rahul had escaped after stealing Rs 4.5 lakh from Satish Goyal’s house. He was not coming on job since then.

Crime was committed with the intention to steal Rs 25 lakhs

Devraj Singh, the advocate for the victim, told that on May 22, 2013, the kidney transplant of Satish Chandra Goyal was to be done. Rahul was aware of this. He estimated that 25 to 30 lakh rupees could be kept in the house for kidney transplant. With this intention, Rahul carried out the incident on the night of 21 May.
