Twitter launches Blue subscription in India at Rs 900 per month

New Delhi: Twitter Blue subscription has officially launched in India. Until now, Twitter’s premium subscription was available in select countries, but users in India can now purchase membership for a fee of Rs 900 per month.

One of the biggest benefits of a subscription is that subscribers with verified phone numbers automatically get a blue verified badge (check mark) on their profile. Previously, Twitter users had to apply for a verified badge separately. The badge lets people know that a public interest account is authentic.

In a blog post, Twitter said Twitter Blue is available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, UK, Saudi Arabia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Indonesia and Brazil, in addition to India. Membership can be purchased by both Android and iOS users in India. Twitter also allows users to get a Twitter Blue subscription through the web version, but it seems to be unavailable in India at the moment.

However, some reports suggest that the price of Blue membership through the website is Rs 650 per month. If users get the annual plan, the price of Twitter Blue membership is Rs 6,800 per year, which is Rs 566.67 per month.

What else do you get with Twitter Blue?
In addition to an automatic blue profile badge, Twitter Blue promises fewer ads, longer posts, and early access to upcoming features. Twitter says tweets from verified users will be prioritized to “fight fraud and spam.” Basically, this means that tweets from Twitter Blue members will be prioritized.

In addition, Twitter Blue allows users to edit tweets up to five times within 30 minutes of posting. Users can also share videos in Full-HD resolution.

How to get Twitter Blue?

To get Twitter Blue, users need to open the app, click on their profile picture at the top left and select Twitter Blue. Twitter states:

“Only Twitter accounts created more than 90 days ago can sign in to Twitter Blue. All Twitter Blue subscribers will be required to confirm their phone number as part of sign-up. Once you sign up for Twitter Blue, changes to your profile photo name or username will appear name (@handle) will result in the loss of the blue tick until the account is verified to continue to meet our requirements, and no further changes will be allowed during this review period.”

Twitter previously said that existing members with a verified badge would also need to purchase a Twitter Blue subscription. However, Twitter has yet to provide a timeline for when users need to log in to keep their prestigious Twitter badge.
