“Every boy dreams of making it big and tries to be a cricketer. You go to any street and there will be five players who want to play for India, so you need to have a backup plan. My relative lives there (Canada) so we thought that I would finish my education here and then move,” Bumrah said.
Bumrah further disclosed that the plan to move to Canada fell through primarily due to his mother’s decision against it. He explained that while initially, the family had contemplated the move together, his mother, who had become a school principal, expressed reservations about uprooting to a different country with diverse cultures. Reflecting on this turn of events, Bumrah expressed gratitude for how things ultimately unfolded, acknowledging his luck in pursuing his cricketing career instead. He humorously added that had the Canada plan materialized, he might have ended up trying his luck with the Canadian cricket team.
