Street Style Dahi Bhalla: Ingredients

  • Washed Moong Dal = 1/3 cup
  • Washed dal urad = 2/3
  • Ginger = ½ inch piece finely
  • Green chili = 2 finely chopped
  • Raisins = 5 to 10
  • oil = for frying
  • Black salt = 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper = half teaspoon
  • Roasted cumin = half teaspoon
  • Green coriander = for garnish
  • Powdered sugar = half a teaspoon

To soak the bhalle

Cold water = in a large bowl
salt = a little
Asafoetida = a pinch

To decorate Bhalla

Fresh curd = 250 grams, Green chutney, sweet chutney, roasted cumin powder, black salt, powdered sugar

Method

  • To make Dahi Bhalla, first soak both the pulses in separate vessels for 5 to 6 hours.
  • After that separate the water from moong dal and make a fine paste in the mixie.
  • Similarly, take out the water of urad dal and make a coarse paste out of it.
  • Now mix both the crushed pulses together and beat them well in the same direction for about 10 minutes.
  • If you do not do this then your bhalle will not become soft.
  • When the dal becomes floppy, check it once. For this, try putting a little pulse in a bowl of water, if it starts floating then understand that your pulse is ready to make bhalle.
  • Now your batter is ready. At this time, add ginger, green chillies and raisins to the batter and mix while whisking.
  • Your bhalla batter is ready. Now prepare water to soak the bhallas.
  • For this, put water in a bowl, add a little asafoetida and salt along with it.
  • Now it is the turn to fry the bhalle, for this heat oil in a pan, when the oil becomes hot, turn the flame to medium.
  • Now put the balls in it and fry them according to the capacity of the pan. When you are frying the bhallas, keep in mind that keep pouring hot oil on the bhallas, this makes the bhallas perfectly round.
  • When all the balls are fried, keep putting them in the water prepared for soaking. And leave it like this for about half an hour.
  • Now add a little powdered sugar, black salt, roasted cumin, a little red chili to the curd, beat it well and put all the bhallas in it.
  • After this, garnish with green coriander, add green chutney, red chutney and serve it.
  • These will be so delicious that the eaters will keep on eating them.
