New Delhi: Assam Police have garnered a massive victory against drug traffickers. In what is being considered one of the largest seizures in a while, they have nabbed a truck carrying 4,728 kg of ganja (weed).
The drugs were hidden under sheets of rubber in a truck coming to Assam from a neighboring state. The seizure was made on Monday August 29. The information was given by CM of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma as reported by ANI.

497 kg of ganja recovered on July 12
Earlier on July 12 around 497 kg ganja was recovered from a truck in the Srirampur area in Assam’s Kokrajhar district. The vehicle was set on fire by some miscreants later at night.
473 kg of ganja recovered on July 20
Another consignment of 473 kg of ganja was seized on July 20. The seizure was made in the Karimganj district of Assam. The truck carrying the drugs was nabbed along the Assam-Tripura border. The police arrested the truck driver and registered a case against him.
92 kg of ganja recovered on Aug 7
The Assam Police seized 92.550 kg of ganja and arrested one person on August 7.
According to Police, the arrested person was identified as Koilash Das. A joint operation was carried out by the Bajali and Nalbari district police t Mahtali Gaon in Bajali.
Narcotics worth Rs 15 crore recovered on Aug 2
Earlier on August 2, in a joint operation conducted by the Central Reserve Police Force and the Assam Police, narcotics worth Rs 15 crore had been seized from Assam’s Karbi Anglong district. In the operation, three drug smugglers had also been apprehended.
