New Delhi: Hyundai is one of the few car companies that has a good understanding of the Indian car market. With products in almost all popular segments, Hyundai has been able to maintain its dominance in the domestic market. This year, the Korean automaker did not introduce any new products. However, the brand has updated its existing range by adding new features and variants.

The company plans to launch some key products in the next two years. Hyundai entered the 7-seater SUV segment with the Alcazar. The company also announced that it will launch 6 new electric vehicles in the country by 2028. To give you a glimpse into the Korean automaker’s launch chain, here is a compiled list of upcoming Hyundai cars slated for release in 2022 and 2023.

1. HYUNDAI KONA EV

Korean automaker Hyundai will launch the facelifted version of the KONA EV in the Indian market in early 2023. The new model will come with updated exterior and interior along with new mechanical changes.

The SUV comes with a new front fascia with a new closed grille, new DRLs and new sharper headlamps with a high-tech inner frame that includes multifaceted reflector (MFR) technology. It will have new vertical air intakes, redesigned lower bumper with new air intake, redesigned rear bumper, new horizontally stretched tail lamps, etc.

The new model is 40 mm longer, which is due to redesigned bumpers. The electric SUV will come with a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluelink car solutions, etc. In global markets, the Kona EV is offered with two battery packs – 64kWh and 39.2kWh 204hp/395 Nm and 136 hp/395 Nm. While the former offers a range of 484 km, the latter offers a range of up to 305 km. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 47 minutes using a 100 kW DC fast charger.

2. NEW HYUNDAI STARGAZER MPV

Korean automaker Hyundai recently launched the Stargazer three-row MPV in the Indonesian market. The new Hyundai Stargazer based on the Kia Carens platform is also expected to hit our market sometime in 2023.

It is likely to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023 in January. The new MPV Stargazer will compete with Kia Carens, Maruti Ertiga, Suzuki XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo. Dimension-wise, the new Hyundai Stargazer is 4,460mm long, 1,780mm wide and 1,695mm tall and has a 2,780mm wheelbase. It is claimed to offer a boot space of 200 litres, which can be further expanded to 585 liters by folding down the third row seats.

The Indonesian Stargazer model also comes with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with features such as Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA) and rear cross traffic collision. – assistance avoidance (RCCA). The new MPV is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder NA petrol engine with 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and IVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission). The Indian model could get a 115PS, 1.5L NA petrol and a 115PS, 1.5L turbo diesel.

3. HYUNDAI PALISADE

Next in our list of upcoming Hyundai cars is the Palisade 7/8 premium SUV, which is already on sale in international markets. The SUV was built on the same platform as the Kia Telluride SUV. If launched in India, the Hyundai Palisade will become the flagship product in the company’s lineup. Its price is expected to exceed 40,000,000,000,000,000 CZK and it will be similar to the MG Gloster and Škoda Kodiaq. In terms of stance, the Palisade measures 4,980mm in length, 1,975mm in width and 1,750mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,900mm.

Globally, the Hyundai Palisade is offered with 2 engines – a 3.8-litre direct-injection petrol V6 and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. While the former is good enough for 291bhp and 355Nm of torque, the oil burner produces 200bhp and 441Nm of torque. The transmission of power to the wheels is handled by an 8-speed automatic transmission with a multi-plate torque converter. The SUV comes with two-wheel drive (2WD) and the HTRAC with four-wheel drive (4WD).

4. NEW GENERATION HYUNDAI VERNA

The next model in our list of upcoming Hyundai cars is the new generation sedan Verna, which is scheduled to be launched on March 21, 2023. The new Hyundai Verna will be based on a modified version of the existing platform. It will grow, allowing Hyundai to create more space inside the cabin. The new model will be pitted against the likes of Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, Škoda Slavia and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

The new Hyundai Verna is also expected to get Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring and more. It will be offered with 2 engine options – 1.5 liter NA petrol, 1.5 liter turbo petrol. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, CVT with the 1.5L NA petrol and a 7-speed DCT with the turbo petrol.

Expected Price – Rs 11 Lakh– Rs 17 Lakh

5. HYUNDAI ALCAZAR 2023

The Korean automaker is testing the updated Alcazar 3-row SUV, which will come with cosmetic design changes and an upgraded interior. It is likely to get a facelifted grille, LED headlights and LED fog lights, and wraparound LED taillights with a C-shaped light signature. The facelifted model will also come with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistant System) with features similar to those of the Tucson.

It will have autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, collision avoidance technology, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and more. It will likely be offered with existing engine options, including a 157bhp 2.0-litre petrol and a 113bhp 1.5-litre turbodiesel. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic torque converter.

6. HYUNDAI CRETA FACELIFT

Hyundai will launch the Creta facelift in the country in 2023. The new model will come with a significantly redesigned design and upgraded cabin along with advanced driver assistance systems. The SUV’s styling is heavily inspired by the new Tucson and features a new ‘parametric grille’ that runs across the width and blends elegantly with the LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

At the rear, the SUV gets a redesigned tailgate design with sharp grooves and new LED taillights. Hyundai has also removed the LED bar that connects the taillights, offering a much cleaner design compared to the outgoing model.

The new Creta facelift comes with improved infotainment system, revised 10.25-inch digital instrument console, and an updated version of Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car tech. Hyundai has also announced to introduce ADAS tech in most of its models including the new Creta facelift. It will continue to be offered with the same set of engines – a 115bhp, 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol, a 115bhp, 1.5L turbo-diesel and a 160bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol.

7. HYUNDAI AI3 SMALL SUV

Hyundai is working on a new mini SUV, internally codenamed Ai3, which is likely to be launched in our market in 2023. The new model will be based on Hyundai’s K1 platform, which also underpins the Hyundai Casper. It will be positioned against the likes of the Tata Punch and the Nissan Magnite.

In terms of features, the new micro SUV gets an LED lighting system, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument console, automatic AC and a single pane sunroof. It is most likely to get a 1.2L 4-cylinder NA petrol engine that produces 81bhp and 114Nm of torque. The company could also offer a CNG version of the micro SUV. Both manual and AMT gearbox options will be on offer.
