Melbourne: Ireland marked a 5 runs win against England by DLS Method after rain played spoilsport in the Melbourne Cricket Ground. On a historic win against English side, Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie shared his experience of playing against giants.

After the wins Ireland captain said, “We were slightly disappointed with the way we finished, we lost 7 wickets for not a lot and they took the momentum away from us. Our message was to just create chances and we know how this England team like to play, if we take every chance then we would be in with a shot. It was tough, they (England) have some express pace and different variations, we rode our luck, took a few blows and moved forward.”
“The platform was pretty well laid and Tucker played well. It is amazing and kind of emotional. We haven’t played a game here, to come and play the tournament favorites, with so many big names and to put on a show is very satisfying. We had a great week in Hobart and to do this was at one of the biggest grounds is pretty special. A few (supporters) of them extended their trip, they are so passionate about the game and we are trying to make the sport big in Ireland. Quite a quick turn around but we have the momentum and will try to make the most of it,” he added.
Ireland win by 5 runs through DLS method
After put to bat first, Ireland was bowled out for 157 runs in 19.2 overs. Captain Balbirnie contributed the maximum of 62 runs in the teams total. When English side came to bat on the field, Joshua Little brought relief for Ireland. Little dismissed captain Jos Buttler for zero and it turned the momentum towards their side.
After Alex Hales was dismissed by Little for 7 runs. When things started to look stable for England, Fionn Hand gave another shock as he sent back Ben Stokes for 6 runs.
Dawid Malan had made 35 runs while Harry Brook garnered 18 runs. Moeen Ali contributes with 24 runs but it wasn’t enough to win the game.
When the game was in 15th over, management decided to find a winner through DLS method as there was heavy rain.
