New Delhi: The first World T20 remains special to Indian cricket for several reasons. It was this tournament when one of the best catches in T20Is was taken. The man behind the memorable catch was Dinesh Karthik.

However, RP Singh removed both the openers in his first over itself. Herschel Gibbs was trapped LBW, while Graeme Smith was dismissed from a brilliant catch by Karthik.

India’s electric performance against South Africa

Singh bowled an outswinger to Smith, who deflected the ball to the slip. Karthik appeared like a bird on the television screen, flying to his left and catching the ball in mid-air to send the South African captain back to the dugout.

Following that, the South Africans could only score 116 runs in their 20 overs as India won the match by 37 runs. In the end, India beat Pakistan in the finals to win the cup, which also lay the foundation for the Indian Premier League.
