New Delhi: Preparations are on to resume the movement of pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir’s Katra on Sunday.Due to bad weather and flood-like situation, the religious pilgrimage was temporarily stopped on Saturday.

The Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board said on Saturday, “Due to inclement weather, the yatra has been postponed till the morning of August 21.”

Notably, the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have already been deployed. The situation is being monitored by the board.

Earlier in July, there was a cloudburst in the holy cave area of ​​Amarnath, which resulted in heavy discharge of water into the ‘nallah’ adjacent to the holy cave, after which the route to Amarnath was damaged, halting the Yatra for some time. Had happened.

Four Mi-17V5 and four Cheetal helicopters of the Indian Air Force were also deployed for the rescue and relief efforts at the Amarnath temple. The yatra began on June 29 from Jammu amid tight security by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with the Army and local police.

The Amarnath pilgrimage to the 3,880 m high cave temple of Lord Shiva, located in the upper reaches of the Himalayas, is conducted through the twin routes of Pahalgam and Baltal.
