As the Lok Sabha election date approaches, controversies among leaders are on the rise. Despite warnings from the Election Commission, leaders continue to make indecent statements. A recent example is Piyush Panda, a Trinamool Congress leader from West Bengal, who made a controversial comment about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s caste.

This video of Piyush Panda is going viral on the social media platform X, where he is allegedly heard saying, “How can the son of a Teli open and offer prayers at the Ram Temple consecration? Narendra Modi has insulted the sentiments by inaugurating the incomplete Ram Temple. This is not my opinion but what the Shankaracharyas have said. Modi is very arrogant. He belongs to the Teli community and is inaugurating the temple, while Brahmins are not being invited.”

BJP MLA and opposition leader in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, has urged the Election Commission to take notice of the controversial comments made by TMC leader Panda on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while sharing this video. He has demanded appropriate action against him.

Suvendu Adhikari, while accusing the TMC of insulting the OBC community, stated, “I would like to urge Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, the Chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes, to please take cognizance of the attacks on the OBC community. The Election Commission should ban this leader from participating in the electoral process due to this severe violation of the Model Code of Conduct.”

Meanwhile, BJP leader Shishir Bajoria has stated that they will file a complaint with the Election Commission. He said, “The TMC is unable to digest how a boy from a poor family became the Prime Minister. We will complain about this to the Election Commission.”
