The Uttar Pradesh government has greenlit a rapid rail project connecting Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, and Noida International Airport or commonly called Jewar Airport. The project is estimated to cost over Rs 15,000 crore and the project will be executed in two phases to be completed by 2030.
This initiative aims to enhance connectivity across sectors in Greater Noida and Noida while facilitating travel to Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. The approval, based on the National Capital Region Transport Corporation’s report, was announced following a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary DS Mishra, who directed NCRTC to prepare a detailed project report. The project’s cost will be shared among the Central government, state government, and rail authorities, with 20% from the Centre, 50% from the UP government, and the remaining 30% from rail authorities.

The 72-kilometer long rapid rail corridor, spanning Ghaziabad, Greater Noida West, Surajpur, Ecotech, Kasna, Dankaur, and Yamuna Authority sectors to Noida International Airport, will consist of 16 stations. Operating at 160 kmph, this elevated corridor is set to enhance transportation in Ghaziabad and Greater Noida, connecting numerous sectors along its route. Later, more sectors will be connected to the route.
