Char Dham Yatra 2023: The doors of Lord Badrinath were opened for devotees on Thursday morning amidst the tunes of the army band and the cheers of Jai Badri Vishal. During this, a crowd of devotees gathered outside the Badrinath temple. Baba Badrinath temple was decorated with 15 quintals of marigold flowers. The doors of Gangotri-Yamunotri were opened on On April 22 and Baba Kedarnath were opened for the devotees with Vedic chanting on April 25.

Char Dham:

The four pilgrims destinations- Yamunotari, Gangotari, Kedarnath and badrinath are collectively called Char Dham. It is situated at the height of the Himalayas. This religious place everyyear draw huge number of pilgrims and it is one of the most poplar religious place across the northeren part of India.

The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council (UTDC) had earlier said that it would issue tokens to devotees visiting Char Dham Yatra. Char Dham is one of the most popular pilgrimage centers in the country. Worship is done in the temples for six months while for the next six months the doors of the temples are closed.

Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are located in the higher reaches of the Himalayas. These four temples open only for six months in a year. They open in summer (April–May) and close with the onset of winter (October–November).

Char Dham Yatra starts from 22 April

The beginning of the Char Dham Yatra started on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on April 22 with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham. According to the Uttarakhand government, so far more than 17 lakh registrations have been done for the Char Dham Yatra. Pilgrims have been advised by the Government and the Meteorological Department to travel keeping in mind the weather patterns.
