New Delhi: Monkeypox disease, which is becoming a cause of global concern, has knocked in the national capital as well. A 31-year-old youth admitted to Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi has been found infected. Confirming the patient, the health ministry said that the infected had no travel history who was admitted to the hospital with fever and skin lesions.

Let us tell you that the first case of monkeypox in the country was found in Kerala. So far, three cases of this disease have been reported in Kerala.

WHO declares monkeypox a global health emergency

There is a worldwide outcry about Monkeypox. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared a global health emergency regarding monkeypox. WHO Director-General Dr Tedros said that the monkeypox outbreak is worrying internationally. An emergency is being imposed regarding public health. Let us tell you that there are more than 16 thousand cases of monkeypox in 75 countries.

According to the latest report, monkeypox spreads through contact with an infected person and for the first time this disease was found in monkeys. Most often cases of this disease are found in West and Central Africa. Monkeypox first appeared in the African country in the world. The first case of monkeypox infection was seen in a nine-year-old child in the Democratic Republic of Congo. After which this infection was found in about 11 countries of Africa with monkeypox.

The WHO chief said that ‘A month ago I convened an emergency committee under international health regulations to assess whether the multi-country monkeypox outbreak represents a public health emergency of international concern. Different views were expressed in that meeting. The Committee unanimously recognized that the outbreak does not represent a public health emergency of international concern. At that time, 3040 cases of monkeypox were reported from 47 countries. Since then its outbreak has been increasing continuously and now more than 16,000 cases and five deaths have been reported from 75 countries and territories.

According to a report, monkeypox has so far infected more than sixteen thousand people from a total of 73 countries, in which India has also joined. At present, these days monkeypox has raised the most concern of countries like Britain, Canada, Spain, Portugal and America.
