Coach assaults international kabaddi player

New Delhi: A 27-year-old kabaddi player, who represented India in an international competition, has accused her coach of raping her and blackmailing her by threatening to leak her alleged obscene pictures on social media. The police gave this information on Monday. The woman player lodged an FIR against the coach at Baba Haridas Nagar police station in Dwarka last week.

Coach forced to make physical relations

Police said that the player’s statement has been recorded before the court under section 164 of the Indian Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). In this regard, a senior police officer said that the woman player said in her complaint that in the year 2012 she was preparing for Kabaddi in Hirankudna near Mundka, Delhi. In the year 2015, her coach had sexual relations with her without her consent.

Here is what the compaint says

Quoting the complaint, he told that the victim has also accused the coach of giving criminal threats. The officer said, the victim told that in the year 2018, the accused demanded a share of the prize money and after that he transferred Rs 43.5 lakh to the bank account of the coach. The coach has been identified as Joginder.

He said, “The complainant got married in the year 2021, after which the accused started blackmailing her and started threatening to make private pictures public.” An FIR has been registered under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.

He said, “During the investigation, today she (player) joined the investigation and her statement was recorded in the court under section 164 of CrPC. We have formed a team to nab the absconding coach.”
