With the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) set to start on 22nd March, Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to feature for the defending champions yet again in what will be possibly his final season in the yellow jersey. With Dhoni coming in to defend his title, the former Indian captain can make 5 new records to his name which will eventually help his side Chennai Super Kings to win their record 6th title this year.

1st player to complete 250 sixes

MS Dhoni is all set to complete 250 sixes in IPL with Captain Cool needing 11 more sixes to complete the record which will make a new record as well.

1500 Runs For CSK

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has delivered for Chennai whenever they have needed them the most with crucial runs in the death. Dhoni has 1445 runs in the IPL so far and will probably complete the 1500-run mark in the domestic season as well.

Complete 5000 runs as skipper

Dhoni has had an impressive record in the IPL with the bat and is just 340 runs away from completing 5000 runs as well.

Complete 50 Stumpings

Known to change games from the back of the wickets, wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni has the fastest hands in world cricket in terms of stumpings. With the 41-year-old collecting 42 stumpings to his name so far, he would probably reach 50 stumpings this season too.

150 Catches in IPL

With 138 catches in the IPL so far, Dhoni can also reach 150 catches in the Indian Premier League this year. A record which will be hard to reach.

Witnessing the World Cup winning captain take the field at such an age is in itself a big surprise let alone seeing him etch his in the history books while he’s at it. Having 5 IPL titles to his name, it will be interesting to see whether he will lift his 6th title this year or not.
