New Delhi: India wrestler Bajrang Punia has created history after overcoming all the shortcomings in the World Wrestling Championships 2022. 

Punia won the bronze medal in the men’s 65kg on the final day of the tournament with a bandage on his head to manage the injury he incurred in the previous bout.

After the win, Punia thanked the fans and wrote few worlds of wisdom on Twitter.

“The journey of a player’s game is not easy! And the difficulty increases when he gets hurt during the competition, then it seems as if our journey is over but your love and support has always inspired me to come out of such situation. Jai Hindi,” he wrote while sharing his pictures from the tournament. 

The Tokyo Olympic medalist suffered injury on head in pre-quarter finals when he was fighting against Puerto Rico’s Sebastian Rivera and made a brilliants comeback from 6-0.

Fourth World Championships’ Medal

The medal bout was an inspiration for many other players as he turned the turned the tables around in the last 20 seconds. Winning the game by 10-9, Bajrang has become the most successful Indian wrestler having won medals in 4 editions of World Championships. 

He has added another bronze in his list of medals. He had won silver in 2018 and bronze medals in 2013 and 2019.
