Lok Sabha 2024: EC’s Plan To Increase Voter Turnout, Discounts At Hotels And Restaurants After Casting Vote

With just two weeks remaining until the first phase of voting for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, the Election Commission has devised a new plan to increase voter turnout.

The Uttarakhand Election Commission has proposed offering a 20% discount at hotels and restaurants after voting to increase voter turnout for the Lok Sabha 2024. If positive results are seen in this direction, then on the day after April 19, which is April 20, voters will be given a 20% discount at hotels and restaurants.

Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande has revealed that several organizations are cooperating to increase voter turnout in Uttarakhand. He mentioned that discussions will be held regarding the 20% discount in this context, and information will be provided by the Hotel Association.

Vijay Kumar Jogdande announced that from 48 hours before voting until the conclusion of voting, a dry day will be observed. This means all liquor shops will remain closed during this period. In the districts of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh where voting will take place on April 19, a dry day will also be observed from 5 p.m. on April 17 until 6 p.m. on April 19.

He also mentioned that during the voting in different phases, the districts bordering Uttarakhand will also observe a 48-hour dry day within a radius of 3 kilometers from the border.
