In 2024, Gujarat has made significant strides toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of ending tuberculosis in India by 2025. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the State government has accomplished 95 percent of the NITI Aayog target for TB registration and successful outcomes in treatment, with a treatment success rate of 91 percent, according to an official release.

For patients that were registered, 1,24,581 patients who completed therapy registered a 90.52 percent completion rate.
In addition, 1,31,501 registered TB patients were provided with treatment facilities. To ensure TB patients in the state receive one monthly kit for nutrition support during their treatment, the Gujarat government signed a MoU with Lions Clubs International on March 6, 2025.
Patients who undergo TB treatment will be adopted and given nutritional support to promote healing and recovery. Lions Clubs International will lead initiatives to distribute those essentials to patients throughout the state. The government feels as these efforts continue, patient recovery will improve quickly.
