Very dense fog conditions across Delhi, several sections of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh

Weather conditions today: Intense cold wave gripped entire north and east India. Bone-chilling cold has only not troubled humans but its effects can be seen on trees, animals and every living organisms. Amid the severe cold Indian Meteorological Department on Saturday predicted that after 24 hours there is reduction in the intensity of cold wave and chilly day conditions over northwest India.

Weather conditions today: IMD prediction

It also forecasted dense to very dense fog conditions across several sections of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh over the next 24 hours, with a subsequent drop in intensity and dispersion. According to an IMD release issued on Friday, due to the approach of two Western disturbances in quick succession, minimum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over many parts of northwest India over the next three days, with no significant change over the following three days. “As a result, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions in isolated pockets highly likely over Rajasthan and cold wave conditions in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours.

Minimum temperatures in Bihar are expected to dip by two to four degrees Celsius over the next two days, with no notable change expected over the next three days.

“There will be no notable change in minimum temperatures over Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours, and temperatures will rise by two to four degrees Celsius during the next three days,” it said.

Low temperatures

In terms of weather over the last 24 hours, the announcement stated that low temperatures were in the -1.5 degree Celsius range in various sections of the plains of northwest India and in isolated pockets throughout neighbouring Madhya Pradesh. Bikarner Rajasthan has the lowest minimum temperature of 0 degrees Celsius.

“Dense to very dense fog observed in most portions of Punjab, Haryana, certain parts of West Uttar Pradesh, isolated pockets of east Uttar Pradesh, and sub-Himalyan West Bengal,” according to the press release.

Fog conditions 

Today morning, intense fog was recorded in some places of east Madhya Pradesh, as well as in isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, West Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura.

“Cold day to severe cold day conditions prevailed in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, in some parts of east Rajasthan, isolated pockets of west Rajasthan, Bihar, and cold day conditions prevailed in isolated pockets across Uttarakhand,” according to the release.

According to the IMD, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions prevailed in many parts of east Madhya Pradesh, some areas of east Rajasthan, isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and west Rajasthan, and cold wave conditions were observed in many parts of west Madhya Pradesh, as well as isolated pockets across Punjab Haryana and west Uttar Pradesh.
