Kerala Registers 277% Surge In COVID Cases Within A Month; Ministry Issues Advisory

The increasing number of Corona patients in the world has created an atmosphere of panic.

Christmas and New year are just round the corner, experts fear that the number of cases may increase further and people need to be careful. Within a week, new Covid-19 cases have increased 277% in Kerala. The latest Health department circular suggests mandatory masking, especially for the elderly and those with co-morbidities; all those admitted with symptoms of influenza-like illnesses and severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) in hospitals are also tested for COVID-19.

The increasing number of Corona patients in the world has created an atmosphere of panic. More than 1,634 active cases of corona have been registered in Kerala within a day. Earlier the number of active cases was only 111. The suddenly increasing number of patients has forced the health department to think again. In view of the increasing cases of Corona, the Health Ministry has issued some important guidelines and has asked people to remain vigilant.

After millions of deaths, a new variant of Corona is once again spreading in the Country. There has been a surge in Corona cases in various states of India. After the confirmation of the new variant JN-1 of Covid-19 infection in Kerala, the Indian government is on alert.

In the last 24 hours, 335 new cases of corona have been registered in the country. At the same time, five people have died due to Corona in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.

The new variant:
The increasing cases of Corona increased global concern when the newest variant of Corona, JN-1, was confirmed in Singapore. According to experts, this is the most complex and dangerous variant of Corona. It spreads rapidly. However, it has not been confirmed yet whether this could increase the death toll. But, according to the latest developments, this new variant has rapidly infected people in many countries including America and China.

A senior official of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said, this new variant has been detected in a 79-year-old woman in Kerala. However, this incident happened on December 8 and the woman is completely healthy. On Sunday, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said the COVID-19 sub-variant found in the state was JN. 1 No cause for concern

Ministry issued advisory

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued an advisory on Monday. In this it has been asked to be cautious regarding Covid-19. The virus is still spreading in the country and is also adapting itself to the local conditions. Which is a matter of concern. Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, has especially emphasized on maintaining constant vigil at the district level.

In his advisory letter, Union Health Secretary Sudhansh Pant asked the states to monitor and report district-wise Influenza-like Illness and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness cases in all health facilities on a regular basis for detecting the early rising trend of cases.

Considering the upcoming festive season, states have been advised to put in place requisite public health measures to minimize the risk of increase in transmission of the disease. Also they have been asked to carry out more RTPCR tests and send positive samples for genome sequencing.
