Balia: In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, a 17-year-old girl endured a harrowing ordeal of abduction and serial rape spanning three agonizing months. The traumatic ordeal, which began on May 29, came to a close with the arrest of the accused on Tuesday.
The victim, a resident of a village in the Nagra police station area, was abducted by a 21-year-old man named Ajit Ram, hailing from the same village. It is alleged that the accused lured the young girl into his captivity, where she was subjected to unspeakable horrors.
After the girl’s mother filed a complaint, the police took swift action, booking Ajit under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping, abducting, or inducing a woman to compel her marriage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Terrifying journey across states
The victim’s statement to the police unveiled the nightmarish details of her abduction. During her ordeal, she was forcibly taken to different states, including Baroda in Gujarat and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. Over the course of three and a half months, she endured repeated sexual assaults.
Based on her statement, the police expanded the charges against the accused, adding section 376 (rape) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Ajit Ram was apprehended from the Narhi Canal Pulia area, falling under the jurisdiction of the police station.
Schoolgirl gang-raped in Saharanpur
In a separate and equally disturbing incident, a class 11 student in the Saharanpur district of western UP was subjected to a horrifying gang rape by five men. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, and all five accused were promptly arrested on Tuesday.
The victim, while returning from school, was offered a ride on a motorcycle by two men known to her. However, this sinister act led to her being taken to a secluded location, where three more men were waiting. The five accused allegedly subjected the girl to a gang rape before leaving her near a road.
The resilient victim, in her quest for justice, reached a police outpost and recounted her traumatic ordeal, prompting immediate police action against the perpetrators.
