New Delhi: Popular Indian comedian Raju Srivastava died today at the age of 58. He was being hospitalised after suffering from a heart attack. It was reported that, On August 9, Raju was working out at a gym. While running on a trade-mill, he suddenly collapsed after suffering a stroke.

He was immediately admitted to AIIMS Delhi, where he underwent an Angiography, that revealed, 100 percent of a large part of Raju’s heart is blocked.

Raju had a medical history

It has now come to the fore that Raju was already a heart patient. It is being told that Raju has had angioplasty done twice before. He was angioplasted about 10 years ago at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai and after that, about 7 years ago he was again angioplasted at Lilavati Hospital. Raju had earlier been fitted with stents. During this treatment, a new stent was also applied to him.

Who was Raju Srivastava?

Raju Srivastava had made the whole of India crazy in the show Laughter Challenge with his character Gajodhar. Raju Srivastava aka Satyaprakash Srivastava was born to a middle class family in Kanpur. From childhood Raju took interest in mimicing prople. Everyone would laugh at Raju’s mimicry at school, among friends and at home, but then his mother would say that life as a clown would not work.

Raju Srivastava had made the whole of India crazy in the show Laughter Challenge with his character Gajodhar.

Raju’s father Rameshchandra Srivastava was considered a great poet, but he kept poetry a part time job. It was also expected from Raju that comedy and mimicry should not be made alternative to the job.

After watching Amitabh Bachchan’s Sholay and Deewar, Raju became a super fan of Big B. He became fond of copying Amitabh Bachchan, getting up like him. Raju had confidence in himself, but how could he win the trust of his family members. Mother’s taunt becomes Raju’s excuse for going to Mumbai. But does Mumbai adopt someone so quickly?

His struggling days and how he rose to fame

After a lot of struggles, he began his career by doing small roles in Bollywood films. He had a part in the Rajshri Productions movie Maine Pyar Kiya and other small roles in various movies such as Baazigar and Bombay to Goa. He worked as an actor and comedian in the Bollywood movie Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya.

In 2013, Raju along with his wife participated in Nach Baliye season 6. He has also appeared on Comedy Nights with Kapil. He also appeared in a show called Mazaak Mazaak Mein a.k.a. ‘The Indian Mazaak League’.
