Hours after actor Allu Arjun’s arrest in connection with the tragic death of a fan at a Pushpa 2 screening, reports surfaced alleging police misbehavior. Hyderabad police responded to these claims with a clarification and justified the actor’s detention, eventually releasing him on bail.
Hyderabad Police On Sandhya Theatre Letter
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Zone, Hyderabad City, issued a press release addressing the circulating letter from Sandhya Cine Enterprise 70 MM requesting police security on December 4 and 5 in connection with the Pushpa 2 release. The police clarified that while they receive numerous requests for bandobast (security arrangements) for various events, it was not feasible to meet every demand. The organizer of the Sandhya Theatre screening did not personally coordinate with police officers and only submitted a letter, which led to some confusion. Despite this, the police managed to control the crowd until Arjun arrived.

Hyderabad police explained that the crowd gathered due to Arjun’s actions upon his arrival at the theatre. The actor came out from the sunroof of his vehicle and waved to the public, prompting his security team to push people aside, which exacerbated the situation. Despite being warned, Arjun’s team did not heed the advice to leave, and he remained inside the theatre for over two hours. This behavior, police stated, directly contributed to the unfortunate incident where a 35-year-old woman died and her son was hospitalized.
Clarification On Allegations Of Misbehavior
The Hyderabad police also dismissed allegations of misconduct during Arjun’s arrest. They clarified that when they arrived at his residence, he requested some time to change clothes, which they granted. There was no force used, and Arjun came out voluntarily to enter the police vehicle without any misbehavior from the officers.
Allu Arjun was arrested from his Banjara Hills residence on Friday afternoon in connection with the incident. He was later granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court after spending the night in jail.
