A big fake shampoo scam has been uncovered in the Amroli area of Surat, Gujrat. For the last 8 years, fake Head & Shoulders shampoo was being made and sold online. The fraud came to light after a sales officer from the real company filed a complaint, according to a report by Aaj Tak.
After this complaint, the police raided a warehouse and seized fake shampoo worth Rs 16.39 lakh. The shampoo bottles looked just like the original ones, making it hard to tell they were fake.
Three People Arrested in the Scam
Police arrested 50-year-old Hitesh Seth, who worked as a clerk. During questioning, he gave the names of two masterminds behind the Shampoo scam, Danish Virani and Jaimin Gabani. Both of them have also been arrested.
These people made fake shampoo bottles that looked exactly like the real ones. They sold them online usinf offers like “Buy 1, Get 1 Free.” Because the bottles did not have any batch number or manufacturing date, the fraud was eventually discovered.
Police Searching for Sticker and Bottle Suppliers
The investigation is still ongoing. The police are now trying to find out who supplied the fake stickers and bottles used in the scam. The authorities have warned people to be careful while buying products online, especially personal care items like shampoo. Always check the packaging and look for details like batch numbers to ensure its not fake.
