New Delhi: Earlier it was in the headlines that Prabhas’s starrer Adipurush to get postponed. As per the latest update, the film also starring Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, gets a new release date.
As per the new update, Adipurush will now release on June 16, 2023. The director of the movie Om Raut taking to his Instagram handle, made an official announcement on the same.
His post read: “Adipurush is not a film, but a representation of our devotions to Prabhu Shri Ram and commitment towards our sanskriti and history. In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film. Adipurush will now release on June 16th, 2023. We are committed to make a film that India will be proud of. Your support, love and blessings is what keeps us going. – Om Raut.”
Adipurush to release on June 16, 2023
Earlier, Adipurush was slated to release on January 12, 2023, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Controversy
Adipurush sparked outrage months before its release due to its depiction of deities on film. The film’s appearance, as portrayed by Saif Ali Khan, has also been criticised by the audience.
The film’s director, Om Raut, has spoken out against the VFX and the villain’s appearance. Om told Aaj Tak that he was highly influenced by Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan and is confident that he has “done nothing wrong” with Adipurush.
“I am a big follower of Lord Ram. I have done nothing wrong in this film. We have not tampered with history, and I would call this history, our proud history. We kept the purity of this history while working on this. When I saw Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan on Doordarshan, it had a huge impact on me,” he said.
