Maruti Suzuki experiences huge Growth In Oct, check sales report

New Delhi: India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki recorded a massive growth of 28.76 percent in October 2022. The company registered total sales of 1,40,337 units in the domestic market as against 108,991 units in the same period last year. It recorded total sales of 167,520 units (including exports and utility vehicles) as against 138,335 units in October 2021.

Maruti Suzuki sold 98,621 units in the mini and compact car segments which include Alto and S-Presso and Baleno, Celerio, Ignis, Dizre, Swift, Wagon R and Tour S.

In the utility vehicle (UV) segment, the company managed to sell 30,971 units against 27,081 units. The UV product portfolio includes the Brezza, Grand Vitara, XL6, Ertiga and S-Cross. Maruti Ciaz mid-range sedan and Eeco van recorded sales of 1,884 units and 8,861 units respectively.

With domestic sales of 2,913 units, the Maruti Super Carry saw a decline of 23.28 percent from 3,797 units in October 2021. In fact, the company’s exports declined by 4.09 percent. Maruti Suzuki exported 20,448 units last month as against 21,322 units in October 2021.

The company aims to expand its SUV product portfolio by launching new models including the Maruti Baleno Cross, the 5-door Jimny and the new C-segment MPV. All three SUVs are likely to debut at the Auto Expo 2023 in January.

The Baleno Cross (codenamed YTB) will be based on the Heartect platform and is likely to share most of its features and components with the Baleno hatch and the Brezza SUV.

The coupe SUV is said to come with a 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine producing 100bhp and 150Nm. A 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine with manual and automatic transmissions may also be available.

The 5-door Jimny will be introduced as a lifestyle off-road SUV that will take on the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. Maruti’s new C-segment MPV will be based on the Toyota Innova HyCross, which is expected to launch in early 2023.
