1967: Akshay Kumar’s birthday

Akshay Kumar known professionally as Akshay Kumar is an Indian-born naturalised Canadian actor and film producer who works in Hindi cinema. In over 30 years of acting, Kumar has appeared in some 100 films and has won several awards, including a National Film Award for Best Actor and two Filmfare Awards. Kumar is among the most prolific actors of Hindi cinema. Nearly half his films have been commercially successful.

1974: Vikram Batra’s birthday

Captain Vikram Batra PVC was an officer of the Indian Army. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the highest Indian military decoration, for his actions during the Kargil War; on 7 July 1999, Batra was killed while fighting Pakistani troops around Area Ledge, Point 4875, in the Kargil district of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir.

2012: Verghese Kurien’s death anniversary

Verghese Kurien known as the “Father of the White Revolution” in India, was a social entrepreneur whose “billion-litre idea”, Operation Flood,made dairy farming India’s largest self-sustaining industry and the largest rural employment sector providing a third of all rural income. It made India the world’s largest milk producer, doubled the milk available for each person, and increased milk output four-fold in 30 years.
