Man Shares About His Compulsive Behaviour On Tinder

One British man’s experience illustrates the extent of this obsession, as he found himself seeking therapy to address his compulsive behavior. Admitting to experiencing a “rush” while using the app, he disclosed that he would spend hours each day swiping through approximately 500 Tinder profiles. Surprisingly, his fixation on the platform stemmed not from a desire to meet potential partners, but rather from the thrill of seeing how many users “liked” his profile.

In an interview with iNews, he shared that receiving no response or initiation of contact from women would deeply affect him, describing it as a crushing experience. Despite the temporary highs he experienced when receiving numerous matches, he acknowledged the unsustainable nature of his behavior, recognizing that it ultimately led to emotional crashes.

Driven by a deep-seated need for validation, the British man confessed that Tinder became his sole source of motivation. He extended his online presence by creating accounts on Hinge and Bumble, swiping through every profile he encountered. Engaging in conversations with up to 10 women simultaneously, he eagerly awaited their responses, finding solace in the constant interaction.

Admitting to losing touch with his true self due to his indiscriminate swiping and immersion in the dating “game,” he lamented the profound impact of these apps on his mood and personality. Despite lacking genuine interest in pursuing relationships, he found himself going through the motions of asking women out, only to quickly lose interest.

How Do The Dating Apps Help?

Despite finding a meaningful connection with someone he met on Tinder and entering into a relationship, his compulsion drove him back to the app after the breakup. Seeking help, he underwent therapy where he received a diagnosis of depression and borderline personality disorder. He has since made the decision to quit using dating apps, as reported by the New York Post.
