Delhi Police And NCB Arrest Tamil Film Producer In A 2000 Crore Drug Trafficking Network

In an unexpected turn of events, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police have uncovered an international drug smuggling network, led by none other than a film producer. A collaborative effort between NCB and Delhi Police resulted in the arrest of three individuals involved in this illicit operation.

Certainly, a film producer can write a script about drug smuggling, although it might raise ethical and legal considerations. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police have uncovered an international drug smuggling network, led by none other than a film producer.

Delhi Police And NCB Made The Arrest

A collaborative effort between NCB and Delhi Police resulted in the arrest of three individuals involved in this illicit operation. Among the seized items was 50 kg of drug-making chemical concealed within mixed food powder and dried coconut, intended for shipment to Australia and New Zealand.

The mastermind behind this drug trafficking network has been identified as a Tamil film producer, who is currently on the run.

Gyaneshwar Singh, Deputy Director General (DDG) of NCB, disclosed that the arrested individuals confessed to having dispatched a total of 45 shipments of pseudoephedrine over the past three years. These shipments amounted to approximately 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine, valued at over Rs 2,000 crore in the international market.

Dnyaneshwar Singh of the NCB stated that the network was dismantled based on information shared by authorities in Australia and New Zealand approximately four months ago. They alerted Indian authorities about a significant quantity of Pseudoephedrine concealed within dried coconut powder destined for both countries. Additionally, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) provided valuable intelligence.

The mastermind behind the drug smuggling network, identified as a Tamil film producer, remains at large. Authorities are actively pursuing his arrest to uncover the source of the pseudoephedrine.

In a significant operation on February 15, NCB and Special Cell officials raided a warehouse in the Basai Darapur area of West Delhi. During the raid, they seized 50 kg of pseudoephedrine concealed within the premises. Furthermore, three individuals from Tamil Nadu were apprehended.

What Is Pseudoephedrine?

Pseudoephedrine is a chemical used in the production of methamphetamine and is highly sought after worldwide. It commands a price of Rs 1.5 crore per kilogram in Australia and New Zealand. Engaging in the illegal trade of pseudoephedrine carries a penalty of up to 10 years under the NDPS Act.
