New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to newly-appointed United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and informed that the duo has agreed on the importance of early conclusion of a comprehensive and balanced free trade agreement.
‘Glad to speak to Rishi Sunak today,’ PM Modi said, congratulating him on assuming charge as UK PM.
“We will work together to further strengthen our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. We also agreed on the importance of early conclusion of a comprehensive and balanced FTA,” he added.

Thanking PM Modi, Rishi said that he is excited about ‘security, defence and economic partnership in the months & years ahead.’

The 42-year-old is the first Indian-origin leader to rise to the post of a UK Prime Minister. The investment banker-turned politician is the youngest British prime minister in 210 years. He took charge officially today after his meeting King Charles III.
