YouTube is set to introduce an advanced song search feature to its YouTube Music app, enabling users to find songs by humming, singing, or playing them on another device. Initially launched in Google Search and Google Assistant apps, the feature later extended to the YouTube app. As per reports, YouTube Music is poised to be the next platform to integrate this function.

A number of its Music users have already been granted access to the song search feature, which includes a dedicated button within the app. This feature appears to be available on both Android and iOS versions of the app. However, since not all users have received the update, it suggests that a broader rollout of the feature has not yet commenced.

If you’ve received the feature, you’ll notice a new ‘Song’ icon positioned next to the existing ‘Voice’ search button adjacent to the search bar. While the ‘Voice’ search operates as the typical speech-to-text search function, the newly introduced ‘Song’ search button enables users to locate a song by either singing or humming it into the mic or by playing it on another device. The latter function essentially allows users to utilize YouTube Music similar to Shazam, enabling them to identify songs playing in their vicinity.

The addition of the song search feature to the YouTube Music app is anticipated to simplify the process of finding a song, particularly when its name eludes you. Previously, users had to navigate between the main YouTube app, Google Assistant, or Google Search to locate a song by humming, then return to YouTube Music to play it. With this new functionality integrated directly into the YouTube Music app, the entire process is streamlined, offering a more seamless and convenient experience for users.
