Match 8 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) saw history being made as SunRisers Hyderabad broke the record for the highest total ever made by a team in the IPL. A mammoth 277/3, smashed RCB’s 11-year record on the night. RCB had made a 263-run total courtesy of a Chris Gayle storm.

Heinrich Klaasen top scored for the home side with a fiery 80 off of just 34 balls which took the SRH fans for a ride in what was a spectacular show of T20 cricket.

Aggressive Start

It was opener Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma who started the run machine for the SunRisers. The Australian batsman displayed impressive power hitting for the home team, achieving the fastest fifty ever scored by a SunRisers Hyderabad player in the IPL. Head reached his dynamic fifty in a mere 18 deliveries, showcasing his ability to score runs all around the field, leaving the Mumbai Indians bowlers, including captain Hardik Pandya, struggling to break through.

Travis provided Hyderabad with an excellent start before departing after a spectacular 24-ball 62, achieving a strike rate of over 250 for the night.

Mumbai managed to dismiss opener Mayank Agarwal for just 11 runs in the 5th over, thanks to a delivery from skipper Hardik Pandya. Abhishek Sharma, who batted at number 3, complemented Travis Head’s innings with a blazing half-century of his own.

South Africa’s in-form batter Heinrich Klaasen entered the stage in the latter stages of the innings and continued his IPL form, scoring a brilliant 80 runs to make sure SRH etch their name in the history books in front of their fans.
