Mayank Yadav, the fast bowler for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has emerged as the standout story of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. At just 21-years-old, he has quickly gained fame in the cricket world with his impressive performances. In his first two matches, Yadav has struck fear into opposing batters with his lightning-fast pace, even delivering the quickest ball of the 2024 IPL season and the fourth fastest in the tournament’s history.

In his IPL career thus far, Mayank Yadav has bowled a total of eight overs (48 balls). Among these, an impressive 17 deliveries have exceeded the speed of 150 kmph. His fastest ball of the season clocked in at 156.7 kmph, achieved during the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 2nd. Mayank’s remarkable pace proved too much for RCB as he delivered a stunning performance, ending with exceptional figures of 3/14 in four overs.

Mayank Yadav has achieved a truly astonishing feat by setting the record for the most deliveries exceeding 155+ kmph in the history of the IPL. Remarkably, in just two matches, the 21-year-old speedster has unleashed three deliveries surpassing the 155+ kmph mark. By comparison, Umran Malik managed two such deliveries in 26 matches, while Anrich Nortje also accomplished the same feat but over the course of 42 matches.

Mayank Yadav is experiencing a dream start to his IPL journey. With two matches under his belt, the right-arm pace bowler has already secured six wickets at an impressive economy rate of 5.13. Following his second match-winning display of the season, Mayank disclosed his aspiration to represent India in international cricket.
