New Delhi: FA Cup & Carabao Cup winners, and the beaten Champions League finalists Liverpool have 6 players nominated for Ballon d’Or 2022.
The nominated players are:
Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah’s great form throughout last season has earned him a place on the 2022 Ballon d’Or shortlist, with the Egyptian one of six Liverpool players nominated.
It has been an eventful year for Salah, producing a remarkable run of form, with 31 goals and 16 assists in 51 games for Liverpool. The 30-year-old played 15 times for his country as they reached the Africa Cup of Nations final and a World Cup playoff decider.
Despite his best efforts, Salah and his team were unsuccessful in both ties, losing out on the AFCON trophy and a spot at Qatar 2022 to Sadio Mane’s Senegal.

Sadio Mane
The former Liverpool striker, Sadio Mane could become the first African player to win the Ballon d’Or since George Weah in 1995. He is right behind Benzema in the favorites list having scored 33 goals and helped his teams to Africa Cup of Nations, FA Cup & Carabao Cup success.
Luis Diaz
Luis Diaz spent the first half of the season at Porto, helping them on their way to the Primeira Liga title, before joining the Reds for £50 million in the winter transfer window.
With six goals and five assists in the second half of the season, the Colombian played a huge part as Liverpool came two matches away from completing an unprecedented quadruple of trophies.

Fabinho
Fabinho is a versatile player who usually operates in midfield but is comfortable in defense, too. The Brazilian is the most defensive-minded midfielder in Liverpool and played a huge role in the Reds’ success in 2021/22.
Virgil van Dijk
Virgil van Dijk, the ‘rock in defense,’ has an amazing game-reading ability combined with his great presence of mind and excellent technique. The colossal Dutchman is arguably the best center-back in the world.
Van Dijk has been crucial to Klopp’s glorious run in every competition, turning up for all the big games and delivering great performances.
The 30-year-old was also able to score a couple of times, namely against Crystal Palace and Leeds United in the Premier League.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent Alexander-Arnold has already established himself as the ‘new Beckham’ or the best passers in the game. The Englishman is second on the Premier League assists chart, with 12 to his name from 31 appearances.
Alexander-Arnold is one of the best-attacking full-backs and the Reds rely on him a lot when it comes to bypassing defenses. Liverpool’s ‘creator-in-chief’ will be sawed after as the Englishman is about to break Premier League assists record for a defender next season.
