Three days before the IPL 2024, opener, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) new jersey of star player Virat Kohli for the upcoming tournament leaked on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter).

However, the tradition of the Unboxing event of the RCB franchise is slated to take place on March 19, 2024.

In the unboxing event of the RCB, several key announcements are likely to be made such as changing the name of the franchise, the revelation of the new jersey etc.

RCB name change

Recently, RCB shared a video on X platform, indicating that the franchise’s management is nearing a decision to remove the word ‘Bangalore’ from its name. It’s highly probable that ‘Bangalore’ will be substituted with ‘Bengaluru’ in the franchise’s name, aligning with the city’s updated nomenclature.

Meanwhile, earlier on Tuesday, Indian cricketer and RCB’s star player Virat Kohli reached Bengaluru to attend the franchise Unbox event. Kohli has been the part of the franchise since the inception of the IPL and has led the team form the past 9 years.

RCB recently took to Instagram to announce Kohli’s arrival, captioning the post, “Things are moving fast, and we’re not stopping. Is he here?”
