Before the IPL 2024 match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday, March 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, MS Dhoni had a reunion with Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra, former members of India’s 2011 World Cup-winning team. The trio took the opportunity to catch up and reminisce about their shared experiences.

Nehra holds the position of head coach for the Titans, while Kirsten serves as their mentor and batting coach. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni recently relinquished his role as captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), handing it over to Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad made his debut as CSK’s captain in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22 at the Chepauk stadium.

Both Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) commenced their IPL campaign with impressive victories. CSK secured a commanding 6-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), while GT handed Mumbai Indians (MI) a narrow 6-run defeat on March 24 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In the World Cup, the partnership between Dhoni and Kirsten became legendary in cricket history. Their collaboration played a pivotal role in guiding India to its second World Cup victory after a 28-year wait.

Dhoni, renowned for his composed demeanor and sharp leadership, made significant contributions not only as a captain but also with his unforgettable unbeaten innings of 91 runs in the final against Sri Lanka. He sealed the victory with a majestic six, leaving an indelible mark on the minds of cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
