Punjab Kings started their chase strongly, with Shikhar Dhawan and Jonny Bairstow confidently taking on the opposition bowlers while maintaining a steady run rate. Although they could have pushed a bit more aggressively to stay ahead of the required rate, Bairstow’s dismissal triggered a collapse, leading to a succession of wickets.
Despite Dhawan’s efforts to anchor the innings with a score of 70, the team faced challenges. Liam Livingstone, battling an injury, was tasked with accelerating the scoring in the final overs, but it proved too difficult a task. As a result, Punjab Kings have now suffered two consecutive losses.

Earlier Lucknow Super Giants, led by stand-in skipper Nicholas Pooran, won the toss and chose to bat first against Punjab Kings in Lucknow. Despite losing early wickets in the powerplay with KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal failing to capitalize on their starts, Quinton de Kock, Krunal Pandya, and Nicholas Pooran played impressive innings to power LSG to a total of 199/8 in 20 overs.
Despite wickets falling at regular intervals, there was always a batsman at one end who contributed significantly, ensuring a formidable total for the hosts. As a precaution due to his recent return from injury, KL Rahul was designated as the Impact Player for Lucknow.
