India faced disappointment on Sunday in the U19 Asia Cup held in the UAE against arch-rivals Pakistan. Securing its second consecutive win, Pakistan defeated the Indian team by 8 wickets. India had posted a score of 259 runs, losing 9 wickets in their 50 overs. In response, Pakistan successfully chased the target in 47 overs with the loss of 2 wickets. Azaan Awais emerged as Pakistan’s hero, securing a century.

Risk of Missing Semifinals

Following a victory against Afghanistan in their initial match, India’s defeat to Pakistan has put their spot in the semifinals at risk. The team faces potential elimination unless they win their upcoming match against Nepal on December 12. If India loses to Nepal and Afghanistan defeats Pakistan, the tables might turn, potentially eliminating Team India from the semifinals.

Match Overview

India, batting first, managed 259 runs, an insufficient score by modern ODI standards. Adarsh Singh (62), captain Uday Saharan (60), and Sin Dhas contributed half-centuries but failed to push the team beyond 300. In response, Pakistan’s strong top-order batting set the match beyond India’s grasp.

While opener Shamail Hussain fell early, Shahzaib Khan played a pivotal inning of 63 runs. Azaan Awais then sealed the match with a brilliant century, scoring an unbeaten 105 runs off 130 balls. Captain Saad Baig’s unbeaten 61 runs further solidified Pakistan’s victory. Pakistan will play their last league match against Afghanistan on December 12, while India faces Nepal.
