ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: Indian all-rounder Arundhati Reddy has been questioned and has got one demerit point for her send-off after dismissing Pakistan’s Nida Dar.
The action came in the 20th over of Pakistan’s innings when Reddy pointed towards the pavilion after dismissing Dar. It was her first offense within the two-year period that the ICC specifies for the accrual of demerit points. Four demerit points within that period would result in a match ban.

The ICC said, “Reddy was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.” Reddy did not challenge the proposed sanction by the match referee for the same.

The ban, however, made the game a bittersweet one for Reddy who was adjudged the Player of the Match for her three-wicket haul. Her efforts helped India clinch their first victory in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai after a loss in their opening game against New Zealand.
