New Delhi: After a thrilling encounter between India and England which ended in a draw whereas Spain trashed debutant Wales by 5-1 on Sunday. Now, FIH Hockey World Cup 2023 is all set for it’s day 4 schedule. The thrill will be paced as some crushing games are on their way.

Malaysia will face Chile in which is a must win game for them. New Zealand will lock horns with Netherlands to seal the quarter-final spot. Meanwhile, France and South Africa will also face each other. Australia and Argentina are also set to fight for the Quarter-final spot.

Malaysia and Chile will fight each other for their first breakthrough of this World Cup. After the 4-0 defeat from the hand of Dutch team in their tournament opener. The South Asian nation will now look to bonus back in their second Pool match.

Despite the defeat, from the New Zealand the debutant will now face their fresh challenge. Chile showed some intense fighting spirit and can be tough opponents to the Malaysia at Birsa Munda Stadium at Rourkela.

Malaysia need to improve

“Some improvements we must make is that players must take on the responsibility to correct individual mistakes. There were mistakes when the ball carrier was under pressure and the lack of support for the ball carrier,” said Arul Selvaraj, Malaysia Coach.

“Most of the mistakes we made against the Netherlands were defensive, especially in one versus one situations and defensive marking, as well as body position in the lower half. We need to emphasize more on this,” Arul added.

Netherlands will meet New Zealand

The win against Malaysia had boosted the confidence of the Dutch team, they will now aim to hit the Quarter-final spot. But New Zealand whose best standing is 7th from 1973, will test their ability against the three time champions. The winner of the match will automatically advanced into the quarters.

France vs South Africa

France will meet South Africa in the 13th match of the World Cup on January 16 , despite a horrible start from the French side they will now look to improve their Defence as they will be fighting for surviving in this tournament.

South Africa, who showed their best against the Argentina but could not put their name on the scoreboard. They have to show their full strength against the South Africans.

Australia and Argentina show

The top two of Pool A Australia and Argentina will face each other at Kalinga Stadium in Bhuvneshwar. Australia who as began their tournament with the best opener against France, will now face the biggest opponent in Pool stage Argentina.

Last match’s hat-trick men, Tom Craig and Jeremy Hayward are in great form and will be eager to replicate their showing against the South Americans.

Argentina on the other hand found it difficult to crack the South African defence, but now they have to be aware of the risk. Argentina, studded with seasoned players such as Matias Rey, Lucas Vila and Augstin Mazzilli, will be keen on improving its short corner conversion against a formidable rival.
