BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar backed Team India’s T20 vice captain Hardik Pandya when he addressed the media along with Team India skipper Rohit Sharma after the BCCI had announced the provisional 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.

The newly appointed Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has been a lot of criticism for his captaincy and performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) over the recent weeks. Replacing Rohit Sharma as the new captain of Mumbai hasn’t been smooth sailing for the all-rounder with the side sitting in the bottom half of the table.

However, when asked about Hardik, Ajit Agarkar defended him and said that he has returned after a long injury layoff and does need some time to get back to his prime form. Having played through half of the IPL so far without any major issues, Agarakr is positive that Hardik will be able to produce his best cricket for Team India when the time comes.

Agarkar appreciated Hardik’s ability and said that there is no replacement for the things that Hardik Pandya can do on the pitch for his team.
