Birmingham: India long jumper Murli Shreeshankar qualifies for finals after the jumps of 8.04m in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022. Sreeshankar is the only player in the round for now who has jumped past the qualifying line i.e. 8m.

Earlier, Sreeshankar became the first Indian male athlete to qualify for the long jump finals in the World Championships. However, his campaign at Worlds did not end with any medal. India long jump-athlete Murli Sreeshankar finished 7th in the World Championships,
India’s long jump player Murali had won the gold medal by jumping 8.31 m at the 12th International Jumping Meet in Greece.
Sreeshankar has played in the Tokyo Olympics, and holds a national record of 8.36m.
This was Sreeshankar’s first tournament since the Tokyo Olympics.

On the other hand, Muhammed Anees Yahiya has also qualified for the finals after the best jump of 7.68m. Anees finished 8th in the table and got his name registered under the list of finalists
