Geelong: Karthik Meiyappan has created history in T20 World Cup after he scored a brilliant hat-trick against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. This is first time ever that any UAE player has scored a hat-trick in T20Is and what an occasion Meiyappan has displaying his excellence.

After wining the toss, UAE had opted to bowl first as faced difficulty dismissing Sri Lanka players in the start. For the opening wickets, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis garnered 42 runs. Aryan Lakra dismissed Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva came on field to score. It was till 22th over that they continues their batting and took the total to 92 before Silva went back.

When Karthik took the bowl in hands for fifteenth over, it was the end of big runs for Sri Lanka. First victim was B Rajapaksa for 5 runs, then two golden ducks of Asalnka and Sri Lanka captain Shanaka.
