Team India star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been a force to be reckoned with for the Men in Blue and have been consistently performing in the white ball formats as well.

With the squad for the India vs Afghanistan T20I series set to be announced soon, reports suggest that the delay in announcement is due to the big call of whether Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be included in the series or not.

Reports suggested that BCCI secretary Jay Shah will be taking the big call over the two star batters as the decision will also determine their inclusion in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

With Rohit Sharma already leading the team in both ODI and Test formats, it is a possibility that the ‘Hitman’ can be considered for the captaincy in the series with other suitors Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav out injured.

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli haven’t been featuring for any white ball series since the ODI World Cup 2023 with the duo taking a break from the white ball leg of multi-format series against South Africa.

‘Undroppable’ Duo

Former cricketers have also had their say on the situation with former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth saying that if both the cricketers are available for selection, then it would be foolish not to include them in the line up considering their contribution to the team over the years and their ability to single handedly win matches.
