Bangladesh also set a record for defending the lowest score in the T20 World Cups. However, they did not make the best of starts against Nepal. Tanzid Hasan Tamim gave away his wicket to Sompal Kami on the very first ball of the innings. Najmul Hossain Shanto’s poor campaign with the bat continued as Dipendra Singh Airee dismissed him. Litton Das tried to steady the innings but was out after scoring just 10 runs.
Towhid Hridoy, Bangladesh’s standout batter this season, also got out cheaply. Shakib Al Hasan, Jaker Ali Anik, and Mahmudullah Riyad got starts with knocks of 17, 12, and 13 respectively, before departing. It was Rishad Hossain’s cameo of 13 runs off 7 balls and Taskin Ahmed’s unbeaten 12 runs that helped the Tigers post 106 on the board in 19.3 overs.
