The controversy related to Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari and the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) took another turn on March 27 as the association took the necessary step in terms of clarifying the situation between them and their former skipper.

The ACA issued a show-cause notice to Hanuma Vihari approximately a month after the Indian cricketer accused the governing body of abruptly removing him from the captaincy and declared his decision not to represent the state team again. However, Vihari has yet to respond to the notice, which was delivered following the ACA Apex Council meeting held a few days ago.

“Yes, we have served him a show-cause notice and we are awaiting his reply,” an ACA official told PTI.

“After all, we value Vihari and his contributions to the growth of state cricket as he has played a big part in Andhra going up in the ranks in domestic cricket,” he added.

Flow Of Events

The series of contentious events commenced shortly after Andhra’s defeat to Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals this year. Vihari, a 30-year-old right-handed batsman, took to social media to criticize the ACA for stripping him of the captaincy immediately after Andhra’s initial match of the season against Bengal. Initially, Vihari attributed the decision to “personal reasons.” However, in an Instagram post, he alleged that the ACA succumbed to pressure from a local politician following a complaint from the politician’s son, who served as the 17th player during that match, claiming that Vihari had used offensive language towards him.

Subsequently, Vihari, who has represented India in 16 Test matches, shared a letter of support from his Andhra teammates on his social media account. Nevertheless, KN Prudhuvi Raj, the 17th player during the Bengal match, also took to social media to criticize Vihari for making baseless accusations against him.
