Milagu Pongal Recipe: The festival of Pongal is celebrated on January 14 along with Makar Sankranti. There are many festivals in the month of January, in which different types of dishes are made. On the other hand, today we will tell you about such a dish which you can easily make on this festival and can also feed people.

Let me tell you, it is called ‘Milagu’ which is very tasty to eat. It is also very tasty to eat, after tasting it, you would like to make this dish again and again. It does not take much time to make ‘Melagu’ and its ingredients are also easily made. So let’s know about this special recipe.

Milagu Pongal Recipe: Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 cup moong dal
  • 6 curry leaves
  • 10 cashews
  • water as required
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • 2 teaspoon ginger

Method

Step 1: Pressure-cook the rice and dal

For 3 to 4 minutes, cook the rice and moong dal in a deep pan that has been heated over medium heat. Now take a pressure cooker and fill it three cups of water with the fried rice-dal combination. Cook the cooker until you hear five whistles by setting it over a medium temperature.

Step 2: Prepare the Pongal recipe and savour it!

Ghee should be added to a small pan that is over high heat. Add black pepper, cumin seeds, cashews, curry leaves, and ginger to the ghee after it is hot enough. Open the cooker’s lid now, and add the mixture inside. To thoroughly combine everything, stir it well. Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar!
