Makar Sankranti Masala Khichdi Recipe: The festival of Makar Sankranti is very special in Hinduism. There is special importance of making Khichdi on this day. This is the reason why Makar Sankranti is also known as Khichdi Festival at many places. On this day Khichdi is eaten with vegetables including its five friends i.e. desi ghee, papad, curd, pickle and sesame sweets.

Like every year, Makar Sankranti 2023 is on 14th January and on this day you will definitely make Khichdi as usual, so this time why not make an easy and delicious recipe of Khichdi. Let us tell you the recipe of Khichdi (Khichdi Easy Recipe).

Makar Sankranti Khichdi Recipe: Ingredients

  • Rice (1/2 cup)
  • Moong Dal (2 tbsp)
  • Toor Dal (2 tbsp)
  • Peanuts (2 tbsp)
  • Ghee (2 tbsp)
  • Rai (1/4 tsp)
  • Cumin (1/2 tsp)
  • 2 cloves
  • water (2 cups)
  • 1 cinnamon
  • 4 black peppercorns
  • Unsuccessful (1/2)
  • Dry Red Chilli (1)
  • Turmeric Powder (1/4 tsp)
  • Red chili powder (1/2 tsp)
  • 1 small piece of bay leaf
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves (1 tsp)
  • salt to taste

Method

First wash the rice. After this, wash moong dal and toor dal as well. Now soak all three in water for about 20 minutes.

After this take a 3-4 liter pressure cooker. Put about two spoons of ghee in it. After this add cumin and mustard seeds to it. After spluttering, add bay leaves, cloves, black peppercorns, cinnamon, pineapple, peanuts and dry red chilies and fry for a minute.

After this, add soaked rice, moong dal and toor dal to the cooker and mix well. Now add some spices like turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt to it and fry it for 1 to 2 minutes. Add 2 cups of water to it and mix it well.

After that close the lid of the cooker. Switch off the gas after at least three whistles. Keep the flame on high till the first whistle. Later reduce the flame for two whistles.

In this way the khichdi will be ready. Now you can serve Khichdi. To increase the taste, add desi ghee on top and serve it. Also give papal, pickle, curd and vegetables along with it. Everyone will like to eat Khichdi with great enthusiasm.
