Weather on 18 January: A sigh of relief for people amid the icy cold wave that the temperature will rise from the January 19. Conditions of Cold wave over northwest India are likely to abate from January 19 due to western disturbances in quick succession on January 18 and January 20, India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed through tweets.

However, Safdarjung in Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 4.6 degree Celsius and Palam recorded a minimum temperature of 6.0 degree Celsius till 5.30am, according to the IMD.
IMD further added that cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are very likely over many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi till Wednesday.

Cold wave conditions in isolated pockets are very likely over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during January 17-19; over Himachal Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch on January 17-18.
However, IMD alerted that the rainfall/thunderstorm likely to commence from 22nd Jan and continue till 25th Jan with peak activity on 23rd and 24th Jan 2023 over the plains of Northwest India including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan.

Amidst all this, once again there is a possibility of rain with snowfall in the mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Ladakh, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. On the other hand, in the hilly areas, the temperature has already dropped below zero i.e. minus in many places. The water has frozen. Due to which people are facing huge problems.
According to private weather forecasting agency Skymet Weather, the weather is likely to remain dry throughout the country during the next 24 hours. Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions may continue in many parts of Rajasthan, parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. Call wave conditions are expected in Gujarat and Bihar. There may be frost in Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh for the next two days.
