In a tragic incident, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader reportedly slapped an elderly shopkeeper after he refused to give free cigarette to the man, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The video capturing this distressing incident has emerged on social media platforms. The footage depicts the man initially verbally abusing the elderly shopkeeper while bystanders attempt to defuse the situation. Subsequently, in a burst of anger, the man proceeds to physically slap the elderly individual.

The video has attracted mix reaction from the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) users as most of the people showed their anger over the incident.

Thakur Rishish Singh, an X user, commented in Hindi, “Kanpur became a base of terror by the leaders.”

Another X user, Kumar replied to the post stating, “Now this is what is happening, it is the people themselves who are responsible for it…they want to vote at the time of voting and then they come and then after sitting for 5 years they are crying…now they say…and those who are thinking are with us. What is going on…when I come to you, I will not shout again…it is still there, Lord, everything has changed.”

However, Hardeep Singh, another user called upon Uttar Pradesh police and demanded a strict against these people.

“#UPPolice #kanpurpolice #YogiAdityanath Start action against these boys immediately,” he wrote in Hindi.
